Binkhaven Acres guarantees your chickens to arrive alive, healthy and happy or your money back. A credit or refund will be issued for losses that cause your order total to be less than the original number ordered. In the rare event of a complete loss, a total credit or refund will be issued, shipping included. You must notify info@brinkhavenacres.com immediately of any DOAs or losses that occurred within 48 hours of arrival.
Hatching Egg Guarantee
We guarantee hatching eggs will arrive intact and visually undamaged. A credit or refund will be issued for visibly damaged eggs that cause your order total to be less than the original number ordered. In the rare event of a completely damaged order, a total credit or refund will be issued, shipping included. We do not guarantee hatch rates due to the many variables it takes to successfully hatch chicks. Your eggs will be the freshest available and the same ones we hatch weekly.
Choosing a Ship Date
Currently, we are taking orders for ship months. You must choose the same month for all items in your cart. If a particular breed is not available for the month you want that means it is either sold out for that month or we do not anticipate having those eggs/chicks in the given month. So, please, choose only items with common ship months. Once your ship month approaches, we'll contact you with the week we plan to ship your order. Feel free to request a specific week within the month you choose using the comments box during check out.
Minimum Order Requirements
You must order a minimum of 6 chicks in order to ship (March-November)
You must order a minimum of 15 chicks in order to ship (December-February)
There are no minimum order requirements for hatching eggs or juvenile/adult chickens.
Order Cancellations
We accept order cancellations up until one week before your scheduled ship week with a 5% or $10 cancellation fee (whichever is greater). If you wish to cancel with less than one week notice, you will not receive a refund. We reserve the eggs/chickens specifically for you once ordered and must scramble (get it?) to find new homes with short notice cancellations.
Order Shortages
In the event we cannot fulfill your order as placed, we will make every attempt to contact you to discuss your options and make the decision together, however Brinkhaven Acres reserves the right to use their best judgment to decide on your behalf if your response is unavailable. Keep in mind, we are working with live animals and hatching eggs which are perishable in addition to Post Office deadlines which are firm, therefore your quick reply to our outreach in these situations is necessary and appreciated.
Options if we are not able to fulfill your order as placed.
Good: Reschedule your order for a time when all the breeds originally ordered will next be available.
Better: Ship the order without the unavailable breed originally ordered.
Best: Substitute by choosing from the available list of breeds. If the breed substituted is of higher value than the breed originally ordered, no more money will be due. Yay for you! If the breed substituted is of lower value than the breed originally ordered, you will receive a credit or refund. Yay for you!
If none of the above options fit your needs, you can always opt to cancel your order for a full credit or refund.
Breed Quality
At Brinkhaven Acres we work hard to breed for health, appearance (feather pattern/body type/comb type etc), egg color and production...not necessarily in that order. It has taken many generations and essential culling to maintain and improve upon our breeding stock. It is our goal to provide you with a good foundation for which you can start or add to your own breeding program. Our website includes pictures of our flocks at various stages in an effort to be transparent about quality. What you see is what {produces} what you get. Hopefully, we have provided enough information for you to make a confident judgment about the quality you will receive from us. You'll want to determine your own goals and cull accordingly because surely not every one of our birds will meet all of your criteria. It's just the nature of the beast. Generally, we do not credit or refund for quality issues unless there are major faults, which are handled on a case by case basis. We appreciate your understanding.
